Away With Words

I’ll search for the plot,
Just like T.S. Eliot,
Leer with Shakespeare,
Drink with Byron
And limp like Shelley.

I’ll wear a boater like Betjeman
And wayward words? I’ll fit ‘em in.
I’ll prance like Puff Daddy,
Write rap verse badly,
Pout like Prince,
Maybe more than I ought to,
Sing it like Sting, tell it like Chaucer.
Go for it hammer and tongs,
Whacking red hot words,
Distorted, contorted,
Roughly wrought on the anvil of desire –
All to say I love you!
